How to Keep Private Farm Notes

Somewhere to write things down: a delivery date, what the vet said, an idea for next season. A new note is yours alone until you choose to share it with your farm.

Step-by-step

Step 1: Open your notes

On the Home screen, tap More, then Planning & records, then Private Notes. Your notes are listed here. A lock means only you can see a note.

Step 2: Write a note

Tap Create New Note. Give it a title you will recognise, such as Feed delivery on Friday, then write whatever you need to remember: "10 bags of layers mash arrive Friday morning. Clear the store room on Thursday." Under the button, the form says Only you can see this note until you share it. Tap Save note. The note is saved at the top of the list.

Step 3: Find it again

Notes are grouped by month, such as September and August, with the latest edits first. Looking for one? Tap Search and type a word from its title or from the note itself. A search for booster finds the note that mentions it.

Step 4: Share with your farm

The whole team needs this one? Open the note. It still says Only you can see this note. Tap the menu at the top right, then Share with your farm. Now everyone on your farm can read it, and in the list it shows people instead of a lock.

Changed your mind? Open the note again and choose Make private from the same menu. Only the person who wrote a note can share it or make it private again.

Common mistakes

• Leaving instructions for the team in a private note. Nobody else sees it until you share it. For a job with a date and a person, a task works better; see our tasks and reminders lesson.
• Vague titles. Search reads the whole note, but a clear title makes the monthly list quick to scan.
• Forgetting a note is shared. A shared note shows people instead of a lock. If it shouldn't be read by everyone, make it private again.
