How to Set Up Your Farm Account

Setting up takes a few minutes and four screens: welcome slides, sign up, farm name and a short tour. After that you land on Home, which shows a setup guide to walk you through your first records.

Who it's for: anyone opening Livestock Manager for the first time. Plan: all plans. Time: about 4 minutes.

What you need first

• The Livestock Manager app on your phone (iOS or Android).
• An internet connection. The app needs one to work.
• A Google or Apple account, or an email address and a password.
• A name for your farm.

Step-by-step

Step 1: Open the app and read the welcome slides

The first time you open the app, three slides show what it can do, starting with "Manage Your Farm Smarter". Tap "Next" to read on. Tap "Skip" in the top-right corner if you would rather move on. On the last slide, tap "Get Started".

Step 2: Create your account

The next screen opens in sign-up mode. Tap "Continue with Google", or "Continue with Apple" on an iPhone, to sign up in one tap.

To use email instead, type your address in "Type your email" and a password in "Type your password". The password needs at least 6 characters. The "Sign Up" button stays disabled until both fields are valid. Below the button you will see a link to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Already registered? Tap "Login" next to "Already have an account?" and sign in.

Step 3: Name your farm

The "Setup your farm" screen asks for one thing. Type your farm's name in "Give your farm a name" and tap "Continue". The button reads "Creating your farm" while it saves.

The screen notes that you can change this information later, so a working name is fine. The app sets your currency from your location.

Step 4: Finish the short tour

A second, short tour follows. Tap "Next" through the slides, or "Skip" them, and tap "Get Started" at the end.

When Home opens for the first time, your phone asks whether the app may send you notifications. Tap "Allow" if you want reminders about tasks and schedules.

Step 5: Meet your Home screen

A new farm's Home screen shows a card titled "Let's set up your farm", with your progress out of four steps:

• "Add animals": create your first group of animals. The next lesson covers this.
• "Record what happened today": tap "Record it now", or "Or use a form instead".
• "Invite farm partners (optional)".
• "Set your first reminder (optional)".

Want to look around first? Tap "Skip - show my dashboard" at the bottom. Once you have set up, Home shows an "Edit Widgets" button and a switch between "Widgets" and "Dashboard".

Step 6: Try Speak or type

A yellow "Speak or type" button floats at the bottom-right of Home. Tap the microphone and say what happened, such as the eggs you collected today, or type it if you prefer.

Step 7: Learn the five tabs

Five tabs run along the bottom of the screen:

• Home: your setup guide, widgets and dashboard.
• Batches: your animals, group by group.
• Finances: money in and out. You can import old records from here if you kept them in a notebook. This tab shows for owners and accounting roles.
• Records: eggs, milk, feed, health and more.
• More: your feed and medicine stores, farm settings and help.

Common mistakes

• Choosing a password under 6 characters. The "Sign Up" button will not turn on until the password is long enough.
• Signing up twice. If you already have an account, tap "Login" instead of creating a second one with a new email.
• Trying to finish every setup step in one sitting. You do not have to. Do one step from the setup card, and come back to it later from Home.
• Refusing notifications. You can still use the app, but you will not get reminders. You can turn them on later in your phone's settings.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to verify my email to start using Livestock Manager?

No. After you tap Sign Up, the app goes straight to the farm setup screen. Choose a password of at least 6 characters.

Can I change my farm name later?

Yes. The setup screen says you can change the information later. Pick a name you recognise now and edit it whenever you like.

What if I already have an account?

On the sign-up screen, tap Login at the bottom, next to Already have an account. Then sign in with the same method you used before.

Can I skip the setup guide?

Yes. Tap Skip - show my dashboard at the bottom of the guide and Home opens with your widgets. You can add animals from the Batches tab whenever you are ready.
